ANNIVERSARY YEAR

The experience gained by BSUF along the past 10 years warrants the proclamation of an Anniversary Year. The purpose is to measure the work done, the effectiveness of the connections and the value of the ideas evolved. It is also to make a new start in enhancing the Foundation's contribution within the network of similar institutions upholding the power of knowledge in the region and in the world.

BSUF appeals to its contributors and partners, to its generous sponsors and sister-foundations, to its fellows and colleagues in Romania and overseas to continue to support its projects and the new intellectual openings these projects aim to bring to life.

On 2002, celebrating 10 years of activity, BSUF has the following projects:

• A 3 years project entitled "Enhancing the regional dimension of the Conflict Prevention Studies Center", with the financial support of the United Nations Programme for Development and the Romanian Ministry of Education and Research.
• International Reunion of the Regional NGOs within ONU (December 2002)
• Caspian - Black Sea round table
• The CERES National Programme - Roundtable on Conflict prevention and Early Warning
• European Seminar in cooperation with IREI Luxembourg
• Courses for Negotiators in cooperation with the European Integration Ministry

The major projects, depending greatly on the involvement of our partners are:

• Setting up the European Center of International Conferences
• Setting up the Five+-Sea Diplomatic Academy (director Virginia Mircea)
• Developing the Regional Conflict Prevention Center on the basis of the structure and experience of BSUF/CPSC
• Cooperating with SNSPA in order to develop the Faculty of International Relations
• Establishing a Communication Center and intensively using the web for networking activities (courses or conferences)
• Establishing the Laboratory for Information Technology in Education and SMART project launch (director Ana-Maria Marhan)
